Global Citizen

Global Citizen, the renowned international advocacy organization committed to ending extreme poverty, has appointed Ifeoma Chuks-Adizue as its first Managing Director for Africa. In this newly established role, Ifeoma will drive the organization’s efforts across the continent, including overseeing Move Afrika: A Global Citizen Experience, a pioneering initiative to create an international music touring circuit across Africa. This groundbreaking series aims to foster economic investment, job creation, and entrepreneurial opportunities in each host country.

“We are thrilled to have Ifeoma join us,” said Liza Henshaw, President of Global Citizen. “Her extensive leadership experience and her dedication to empowering women and girls align seamlessly with Global Citizen’s mission. Her vast networks and relationships across sectors will be pivotal in advancing our work across Africa.”

Move Afrika debuted in December 2023 with its inaugural event, Move Afrika: Rwanda, held in Kigali. Headlined by Grammy and Pulitzer-winning artist Kendrick Lamar, in partnership with pgLang and the Rwanda Development Board, this landmark event drew widespread acclaim as Rwanda’s most successful live music show to date. Alongside Lamar, the lineup featured celebrated artists such as Zuchu, Bruce Melodie, DJ TOXXYK, Sherrie Silver, Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King, and Bruce The 1st. The event created employment for over 1,000 Rwandans, with 75% of the production crew and staff sourced locally. It also provided skill development and international event training, creating a blueprint for economic empowerment through live entertainment.

With over 20 years of experience in brand management, sales, business development, and media, Ifeoma brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. She previously served as Executive Director Commercial at CAP PLC, where she led her team to triple the company’s business growth since 2021. Prior to that, she held significant leadership roles at Procter & Gamble Nigeria and Cadbury Nigeria, where she was integral in driving growth.

Based in Global Citizen’s Lagos office, Ifeoma will work closely with the organization’s executive team in New York, coordinating Africa-based operations and partnerships across sectors, including marketing, broadcasting, business development, and event production. Her role will also involve direct collaboration with private sector partners and the philanthropic community to foster impactful partnerships across the continent.

A passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, Ifeoma is the author of The Uncommon Woman and Made for MORE and founded the Uncommon Woman Movement, an online platform supporting career women in Africa. She also serves as a Non-Executive Director on the board of FINCA Microfinance Bank Nigeria, championing financial inclusion for vulnerable communities. Ifeoma holds a degree in Economics from the University of Jos, Nigeria, and has received accolades such as the Exceptional Leader of Excellence Award from the Global Women Economic Forum.
