Business/Project Overview

Curtain Call Productions is a Nigerian theater company dedicated to creating, producing, and showcasing original African stories through stage plays. With past successes like MAAMI and Azagidi, our productions make use of both cultural heritage and contemporary themes, and aim to engage local and global audiences. We are now seeking funding for our next major stage production that will tour key cultural centers and festivals across Nigeria.

The Problem

Theater in Nigeria remains underfunded, underrepresented, and often inaccessible to broader audiences due to limited venues, high production costs, and a lack of sustainable support for original African storytelling. This gap limits the reach and impact of culturally relevant stories that deserve to be seen and heard.

Proposed Solution

Curtain Call Productions offers a professional, scalable platform for theatrical storytelling rooted in African narratives. By developing high-quality productions like Azagidi, we aim to spotlight underrepresented voices, stimulate cultural dialogue, and bring theater to a wider audience through strategic partnerships, touring, and digital extensions (e.g., filmed performances or streaming).

Goals and Objectives

We plan to produce and stage our new play Azagidi in major Nigerian cities. As a company we will organize affordable public performances and school outreach, foster talent development through actor workshops and backstage apprenticeships and Secure long-term investment and sponsorships to build sustainable theatrical experiences while we document and digitize productions for online streaming and global access.

Target Audience/Market

  • Urban Nigerian youth and adults (ages 18–60) interested in arts, culture, and live performances.

  • Schools and universities with arts or cultural studies programs
